Mixtape for the Apocalypse is a personal editorial site. The writing begins with my own response to a film, programme, record, object or bit of technology, then uses research where useful to add production history, context or factual background.
Reviews and opinions
Reviews reflect my own experience and judgement. A rating is not intended as an objective measurement and it may not line up neatly with the prose. Sometimes a flawed film is more interesting to write about than a technically excellent one.
Products and first-hand experience
When I review or recommend a product, I will make a reasonable effort to distinguish between something I own or have used and something I have only researched. If an item was supplied, loaned, sponsored or otherwise part of a commercial arrangement, that will be disclosed in the relevant article.

Spoilers
Many long-form film and television pieces discuss endings, twists and major plot developments. Where spoilers are substantial, I try to make that clear near the beginning rather than pretending to discuss the work while tiptoeing around the part everyone actually wants to talk about.
Research and corrections
Production details, dates, credits and other factual material are checked against available sources where appropriate. Mistakes can still happen. If something factual is wrong, I would rather correct it than defend it out of habit.
Updates
Evergreen guides and product recommendations may be revised when availability, pricing, specifications or my own experience changes. Significant commercial or factual updates should be reflected in the article rather than quietly leaving old advice in place forever.
